1. What is the ideal time to visit Panama?
Panama is a fantastic destination throughout the year, featuring a delightful tropical climate and a range of activities and attractions to suit all interests. The dry season lasts from December to April, while the wet season runs from May to November. Depending on your preferences, you might want to consider the seasons, costs, and events occurring during different times of the year.

The weather in Guna Yala is hard to predict and changes quickly.  It can be sunny, cloudy, calm, windy, rainy and/ or thunderstorms all in one day.

Not even our guides who have lived there all their lives can predict the weather with very much accuracy for than a few hours ahead.

We do not offer refunds or discounts for rain or bad weather unless a trip is cancelled by us for safety reasons.

DECEMBER through APRIL are the months of the windy season. The ocean can be rough, boat rides can be wet, sometimes very wet. Please make sure to protect all your items. We recommend you purchase plastic bags for your luggage and zip-lock bags for your valuables (available in the supermarket on the morning of your departure). It is recommended to bring a jacket for the boat rides and occasionally for the evenings.

MAY through NOVEMBER are the months of the rainy season. Boat rides can be wet, sometimes very wet. Cabanas are made from natural materials and may leak at times. Please make sure to protect all your items. We recommend you purchase plastic bags for your luggage and zip-lock bags for your valuables (available in the supermarket on the morning of your departure). It is recommended to bring a jacket for the boat rides.

It does not necessarily rain every day during the rainy season but almost every day would be an accurate statement, so please understand this if choosing to do a trip during these months.

Refunds will not be guaranteed when guests choose to leave the islands earlier than scheduled. If a guest notifies us by 6pm the day prior to change, we likely will be able to make the change and offer a refund, but this is not guaranteed.

While Panama is a bilingual country, and you can get by without speaking Spanish, learning some Spanish phrases or Panamanian expressions will enrich your travel experience. It will enhance your interactions with locals and deepen your cultural appreciation. In certain areas or situations, having more Spanish skills or a professional guide may be necessary.

Given the limited availability of cabins and seats, we advise booking as soon as possible to secure the best options. Remember, cancellations are free up to 72 hours before your tour departure.

In Panama, tipping is a customary way to show appreciation for good service, though it is not obligatory. Here are some general guidelines for tipping guides and drivers:

Naturalist Guide/Tour Leader: $10.00-$20.00 per person per day, depending on the quality of service and the length of the tour.

Day Tour Guide: $10.00 per person per day.

Transfer Driver: $2.00 per person for short transfers.

Tour or boat Driver: $5.00 per person per day for longer trips.

While these tips are appreciated, the most important thing is to tip according to your level of satisfaction and the quality of service provided. Panamanians value gratitude and recognition for their efforts, so any tip given with appreciation will be well received.
